Downtown Superior Court is located in Santa Clara County at 191 N. First Street, San Jose, CA 95113. The Superior Court has jurisdiction over all civil, criminal, and juvenile matters in the county. The mission of the Superior Court is to provide equal access to justice through quality service, education, and leadership.
The court offers a variety of services to the public, including: family law services, small claims court, self-help center, probate court, and criminal court. The family law services include dissolution of marriage (divorce), legal separation, child custody and visitation, child support, and spousal support. The small claims court allows individuals to sue for money damages up to $10,000. The self-help center provides legal information and assistance to unrepresented litigants. The probate court oversees the administration of estates, trusts, and guardianships. The criminal court hears felony and misdemeanor cases.
