The Hayward Hall of Justice was dedicated on October 15, 1965. The building was designed by Welton Becket Associates, Architects and constructed by the Hensel Phelps Construction Company. The cost of construction was $7,500,000. The Hall of Justice houses the Superior Court of Alameda County and the Hayward Branch Library.
The building is a twelve story structure with a basement. It is faced with precast concrete panels and contains 438,000 square feet of floor area. The central court tower is surmounted by an 8,000 pound aluminum and glass dome. The building was designed to be earthquake resistant and has a seismic rating of 8 on the Richter scale.
The Hayward Hall of Justice is open to the public from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on holidays.
