Indio-Larson Justice Center is located in Riverside County at 46-200 Oasis Street, Indio, CA 92201. It is a multi-purpose facility that houses the trial court, law library, district attorney’s office, and sheriff’s substation. The justice center also includes a courtroom for family law matters, two juvenile courtrooms, and four criminal courtrooms.
The Indio-Larson Justice Center was dedicated in November 2003. The $50 million facility was funded through a variety of sources, including the state, county, and city. The justice center is named for two individuals who were instrumental in its development: Judge Harry Larson and Mayor Bob Indio.
The justice center has been praised for its many features, which include:
-A central tower that houses the courtrooms and other public areas
-A two-story law library with a 20,000-volume collection and computer workstations
-A district attorney’s office with space for 25 prosecutors and support staff
-A sheriff’s substation that can accommodate up to 30 deputies
-Courtrooms designed specifically for family law, juvenile, and criminal proceedings
-A secure sally port that allows defendants to be transferred directly from the jail to the courtrooms
The justice center has also been criticized for its lack of parking. There is a limited number of spaces available, and many people have to park on the street.
