The Alameda County Courthouse is the location for many of the county’s court proceedings. The building houses 14 courtrooms, as well as the offices of the District Attorney, Public Defender, and Sheriff. Visitors can access the building through the main entrance on Fallon Street, or the side entrance on Oak Street.
The Courthouse is a beautiful Beaux-Arts structure, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building underwent a $100 million renovation in 2008, which restored many of its original features. Some of these features include the grand marble staircase, the bronze doors, and the stained glass skylight.
