Sierra County Superior Court

Sierra County Superior Court is located in Sierra County at 100 Courthouse Square, Downieville, CA 95936. The court handles all felony, misdemeanor, and infraction cases for the county. The court also handles small claims, civil, family law, probate, and juvenile matters.

The Superior Court is the trial court of general jurisdiction in Sierra County. It is a court of record and has the power to issue writs and process in all cases arising under the laws of the state. The court is composed of one judge elected by the people to a four-year term. The current judge is Michael Brown.

The courtroom is located on the second floor of the courthouse. The public entrance is on the north side of the building. The court clerk’s office is located on the first floor, and the district attorney’s office is located on the third floor.

The Superior Court has a jury commissioner who is responsible for summoning jurors for trials. The current jury commissioner is Mary Ann Curtis.

The court also has a law library located on the first floor of the courthouse. The library is open to the public during regular business hours.
