The court is committed to public service and to the belief that access to justice is a fundamental right of all.
The Eastern District of California comprises 48 counties, stretching from the Oregon border to just south of Los Angeles. The district includes seven divisions, each with its own unique character and jurisdiction: Bakersfield, Fresno, Hanford, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Jose, and Stockton.
The court has a dedicated staff of judges, clerks, probation officers, and other professionals who work tirelessly to ensure that the district operates effectively and efficiently. In addition to hearing cases in its seven divisions, the court also hears appeals from the Bankruptcy Court and the Tax Court, and administers the federal grand jury system in the district.
