The mission of the Sacramento County Courthouse is to provide a safe, secure and accessible place for the fair and expeditious administration of justice by the judiciary, clerks, jurors, attorneys and the public.
The Sacramento County Courthouse is a four-story building with a basement. The courthouse contains the following courtrooms: one civil courtroom, two family law courtrooms, three criminal courtrooms and eight small claims courtrooms. The courthouse also houses the Jury Assembly Room, which is used to assemble jurors for trials held in the Sacramento County Courthouse and the Sacramento Superior Court. The courthouse is equipped with a security screening checkpoint, which all persons must pass through prior to entering the courthouse. The courthouse also has a public waiting area, which is open to the public during court proceedings.
The Sacramento County Courthouse was constructed in 1963 and underwent an extensive renovation in 2006. The renovation project included the construction of a new civil courtroom, the renovation of two family law courtrooms, the renovation of three criminal courtrooms and the renovation of eight small claims courtrooms. The renovation project also included the construction of a new jury assembly room, the renovation of the security screening checkpoint and the renovation of the public waiting area.
